THE VAMPIRES

VAMPIRE: [ vam-pahyuhr ] noun. A reanimated, preternatural being that subsists by feeding on the vital essence of the living.
They are naturally nocturnal beings and despite popular belief they can move freely throughout the daytime hours IF completely covered to avoid the damaging UV rays produced by the sun. Even on drastically overcast days, or in shaded areas, UV rays are still present enough to destroy an unprotected Vampire. They are the strongest of all malafecs. Physically, only a witch can come close to their strength. They are insatiable, highly sexual beings that excrete pheromones that humans are strongly attracted to. These pheromones have no effect on other malafecs, but to humans it is the ultimate high, placing them into a deeply hypnotic, joyful state. Vampires think of humans as sexually subservient food and the pheromones bring their food to them with little to any confrontation needed. Although the blood of any creature will suffice, human blood is preferred. Only the rare, rich blood of witches is more desirable to them. It is a luxurious delicacy that any vampire would pay a high price for. Warlock blood is not nearly as appealing, or desired as they find it to be bitter and medicinal with no curative or beneficial properties to justify the taste. Vampires have extremely heightened senses. They are classified as ‘un-dead’ and although their hearts beat, they do not breathe. They can have sex, and do so often, but they cannot breed. They propagate their species by infusing their tainted blood with the blood of humans. The toxin released in a vampire bite is not poisonous, or lethal to humans. A vampire can bite a human, drink his blood for nourishment, and let him go. The human will be weak from loss of blood, but they will recover. If a vampire bites you and drains your body of blood, you will simply die. In order for a vampire to “turn” a human, he must bite one, drain the body of a good amount of blood, then cut himself, whether by accident or on purpose, and mix a small amount of their tainted blood with the humans. The human will die from the loss of blood, but the tainted vampire blood cells will begin to cause a chemical change within that body. The mutation takes anywhere between 48 & 72 hours. Once the process is complete, the victim will rise up and walk as one of the undead. A vampire cannot change another demon into a vampire. Vampires possess incredible regenerative powers. If injured, their bodies will immediately begin the process of healing themselves. This prevents them from bleeding too much or having clots in the body. Vampires are immortal but they can be killed by exposure to direct sunlight, decapitation, or destruction of their heart. Within seconds of any of these, a vampire will wither and turn to dust. Holy water can injure and cause them a great deal of pain, but it does not kill them. The average vampire can move around 35-38mph and they are 4-5X stronger than an above average human male.
